One Love

At this point, in the beginning of my planning process, without anything set in stone, I have so many ideas and I'm finding it hard to sort through them all. But, I'm hoping if I start including my ideas here, that I can figure out which ones I really like. So there's something to look forward to - an insight into my creative side.

For now, let's talk about One Love. The only first dance song suggestion Bobby was actually passionate about.

Music is such a big part of me. I've danced for years, always have the radio on in the car, and entered a field of work on the idea that no one should be without sound. So, I had many ideas for our first dance, from all genres. Here's some:

Watch the Wind Blow By, Tim McGraw
Lucky, Jason Mraz & Colbie Calliat
I've Had the Time of My Life, from Dirty Dancing
(I feel bad not knowing the artist...)
Better Together, Jack Johnson
Bobby patiently listening to each song when I suggested it, but wasn't really happy with any of them. Most of "our" songs dealt with being apart, since he lived and worked in Jacksonville, and I was in Gainesville for the first year of our relationship. We both love those songs, and they're Bobby's preference in music, but none were fitting for a first dance.
But, when I suggested (more to see what Bobby would say), the Bob Marley song, One Love, Bobby loved the idea! So, our first dance song was chosen. To make it even more non-traditional, my preference for the song version is one by Playing for Change. You can read all about their mission for peace on their website and buy the CD/DVD. We first heard about this group at a Jimmy Buffett concert - he and his band are one of the contributors on a few songs. Here's the music video for One Love (for your viewing pleasure):
